What do Dude Wipes, Ozempic & Maybelline have in common?

They’re all brands that are dusting off the ol’ jingle and putting it to work again.

You might think those annoying earworms are a thing of the past. But more and more brands are realising that a catchy lil tune is still a super effective way to stand out (I mean, it’s just science).

In today's newsletter:

  • The brand jingle takeover you didn’t see coming (find out how these brands are grabbing significant market share by making themselves extra memorable!)

  • Meta’s AI chatbots could become your new sales team (check out this new capability you can try out with your Meta ads!)

  • Trend plug - OMG

The Brand Jingle Takeover You Didn’t See Coming

Brand jingles are making a surprising comeback, led by brands like Ozempic, Maybelline, Band-Aid, and Dude Wipes. Why? Well, jingles tap into 'sonic branding,' using catchy tunes to stick in consumers' minds—because when the tune gets stuck, so does the brand.

You know the rapture's on its way when brand jingles are making a comeback.

And you know these are unprecedented times when the brand leading the resurgence is Ozempic.

But they’re not the only ones. Maybelline, Band-Aid, and Dude Wipes are among the many brands bringing back the relic of advertising’s past.

Love them or hate them (my bet is the latter), the musical ad slogans have been called 'peak marketing' of yesteryear.

And these three new campaigns might just prove the statement to be true.

1. O-o-O-Ozempic

You’ll hear it, and you may as well write off your day. Because that tune ain’t going nowhere.

Which has helped the brand owner, Novo Nordisk, to reach a 69% share of relevant market growth. 20% of that growth has occurred in 2024 alone, despite global supply shortages.

Ozempic leads the GLP-1 market specifically, with a 46% share.

I’m not saying it’s all because of the annoyingly catchy jingle. But watching a group of people dancing around a boxing ring singing about the diabetes drug with a weight loss effect certainly helps with brand recall.

Meta’s AI Chatbots Could Become Your New Sales Team

Potential customers scrolling through FB or IG can now message AI chatbots directly through in-app ads. In theory, the experience should be like chatting with an efficient floor salesperson, but time will tell if users actually buy into it.

Meta's ads have just become much...chattier, let's say?

As of now, businesses using Meta AI can set up ad-embedded chatbots to have full-on conversations with customers.

When customers click an ad on Facebook or Insta, these chatbots will be available to answer questions related to your product or service.

In Meta's own words, 'From answering common customer questions to discussing products and finalizing a purchase, these business AIs can help businesses engage with more customers and increase sales.'

This new feature is part of a slew of new AI capabilities unveiled at the Meta Connect 2024 Developer Conference. Other updates included new image generation capabilities and AI voices powered by the likes of John Cena and Awkwafina.

It's also yet another result of Meta's absolutely bulbous $35B+ investment in AI earlier this year. And at this rate, it's probably not gonna be the last.

But wait - I thought Meta ads already supported chatbots?

That's right! But if you've used chatbots for your Facebook ads before, you already know they have limits.

What makes this update significant is these bots now embrace generative AI. This is the same tech powering text-based programs like the Meta AI assistant and ChatGPT.

Trend Plug - OMG

One of the greatest TV shows ever, BoJack Horseman, has always been big on TikTok.

So when someone put together the show's funniest out-of-context moments, one specific clip stood out to other TikTokers, who have now decided to use it as its own trend.

How to jump on this trend:

Simply, lip-sync to this sound. Use onscreen text to describe a time you've said something and you've gotten back an extremely unpredictable reply.

A few ideas to get you started:

  • 'How was your weekend? I bet you partied.' I actually just cried while rotting in bed.

  • 'Is that like your 5th coffee today?' I'm on 2 hours of sleep and about to tear this office down.

  • 'OMG [co-worker] is so annoying.' OMG I love them! (like this

Q - I want to start posting on LinkedIn more often but I don't want to overdo it. How often can I post without being annoying? - Harmony

Hey Harmony!

The short answer is, more than you think. I know it can feel like everyone's 'looking at you' when you post on socials. This is why we overthink and worry we're doing too much.

But it's important to remember that people in your audience are not going to see every post you do. So it would take quite a bit of posting to actually annoy anyone.

The truth is, the more you post, the faster you'll grow your audience. If you can post 2-3 times a day, imagine how quickly you will improve your content. If your followers don't like seeing your posts, they will just unfollow you. And, if they do unfollow, they aren't the right audience for you anyway.
