AI has come a heck of a long way in 2024.
Even so, 43% of marketers don’t know how to make the most of it in their day-to-day.
And many still aren’t using AI at all. If that’s you, no judgement here. But there’s no better time to start dabbling. Because once you train your little AI assistant to take work off your plate, you’ll feel like you’ve created a loyal intern for life (one who will never ask for a raise!).
In today's newsletter:
Late to the AI party? Here's how to get started. (find out how AI can help you build better connections with your audience)
Why anime characters are wearing luxury fashion brands (believe it or not, anime & fashion have quite a bit in common)
Trend plug - BAM! More life

Learn how to make AI work for you
AI won’t take your job, but a person using AI might. That’s why 800,000+ professionals read The Rundown AI – the free newsletter that keeps you updated on the latest AI news and teaches you how to use it in just 5 minutes a day.
Late to the AI Party? Here's How to Get Started.
Generative AI has come a long way this year, and if you aren’t using it in your campaigns yet, there’s no better time to start. Just remember: you’re the boss, and AI is your assistant, so the better your inputs, the better outputs you’ll get.
You know that annoying coworker that handles everything with annoying efficiency?
The overachiever that happily jumps on a task with no complaints. The one that grinds your gears, but you can’t help but love?
Well, imagine now that coworker is working for you.
Handling your tasks with that same level of enthusiasm and care.
That’s how we should be thinking about Generative AI.
(And no, I don’t have a gun to my head.)
Things have changed drastically since we started this newsletter in Feb. AI was still just rolling out, and it was scary as HELL.
Not to mention janky (no offence, GPT). But it had a lot of learning to do.
Now, well, it’s a lot better, smarter, faster.
Say what you want about AI. But, whether you’re ready or not, you love it or hate it, if it hasn’t already, AI will be sliding into your workflow.
And the numbers don’t lie: A 2024 Microsoft and LinkedIn report revealed that 25% of knowledge workers are already cosy with AI. 90% of U.S. ad agencies are at least toying with it.
Maybe the question we need to stop asking is if it will take our jobs, and instead, ask how it will make our jobs better, maybe even give us some breathing room.

Why Anime Characters are Wearing Luxury Fashion Brands
Maison Margiela x anime series Bleach is the perfect fusion of anime and high fashion. Both industries lean into evoking emotion through bold storytelling, which means this partnership totally works.
What do Bleach and Maison Margiela have in common?
On the surface, not much.
One’s a long-running anime about soul reapers and existential battles. The other is a high-fashion brand loved by avant-garde enthusiasts and celebs with deep pockets.
So why is it, then, that the anime characters have recently been dripped tf out in the luxury line as of late?
Because we’re witnessing the kind of cultural mashup that makes marketing nerds (me) and fandom diehards (also me) alike sit up and take notes.
Luxury fashion in anime is nothing new.
The outfits showcased in hit series Nana range from Vivienne Westwood to Chrome Hearts and Cartier. They're heavily inspired by early Harajuku subcultures like Gyaru with a high-end twist.
Now, creator of the Bleach universe Tite Kubo and Maison Margiela have collaborated on a series of exclusive illustrations ahead of the Artisanal exhibition in Tokyo. I'd say fashion in anime is undeniably having a moment.
This isn’t just about making characters cool. It's about something much bigger.

Trend Plug - BAM! More life
Ever been in a situation where it seemed like you couldn't catch a break, and then BAM something else happens that makes it even worse?
On his podcast, This Past Weekend, comedian Theo Von described exactly what this feels like. As he says, 'Life is like, "hey guess what?" And you're like "what?" And it's like "BAM! More life." It just never stops giving you more life. That's life.'
Profound, I know.
This poignant quote has obviously resonated far and wide, because now it's become a trending audio on TikTok.
We've seen quite a few creators lipsyncing to this audio as-is, without any OST (like this). But you can definitely add some text to make it apply to a specific scenario that fits your niche (like this).
How you can jump on this trend:
Film yourself lipsyncing to the trending audio. To make it a bit more applicable to your brand, use OST to describe a challenging situation OR when you were just rambling for some reason.
A few ideas to get you started:
When my client asks if I can do 'just a few more edits' after I've spent a week on their content
Me trying to explain why I'm late to my 9am meeting
Me telling the new hire what it's like to work in marketing

Ask the Editor
Q - I'm a personal trainer and am wondering if you had any tips on growing my social media? - Alex
Hey Alex!
This all depends on what you’re trying to achieve. Are you trying to build a following as big as possible? Are you trying to get more clients? It's important to know what your goals are so you understand whether you're getting closer to them (or not)!
Once you figure out your goals, these are the next steps you should be focusing on:
Be consistent. This is absolutely crucial, because the more you post, the more the algorithm pushes your content on people’s pages. So post every day if you can.
Be funny (if you can). You're a PT, so why not create some humorous and relatable content around that. Think about the everyday problems people have at gym, whether it be forgetting your headphones or the 5 pm rush--use that as inspiration!
Make content around what you care about. If you want to inspire people to get in shape, do that! Do tutorial videos, teach them about their form, etc. Your passion for what you do will draw people in.
Bring your personality into your content. Authentic videos work so much better than forced ones.
Just so you know, sometimes a video you put no thought into will do better than a well-thought-out one. That's just how it goes sometimes! Keep being consistent and it will pay off.
