Our top 3 Super Bowl ads to watch this year

Super Bowl ad season is here, and this year, it looks like brands are leaning into controversy, nostalgia, and a bit of intrigue. With a few ad teasers out already, here are 3 brands to watch out for on 9 Feb…

The Super Bowl ad rollout has officially begun.

In the marketing world, this is the Met Gala—except with way more snacks.

Oh, and a $7 million price tag for 30 seconds of fame.

In the weeks leading up to the big game, brands unleash a wave of star-studded teasers, each vying for a viral moment.

Why? Because the Super Bowl is so much more than just the game.

The Super Bowl is the biggest advertising stage of the year, with tens of millions of highly engaged viewers waiting for brands to make their appearance.

So, what’s the vibe for 2025? And which ads are already stealing the show?

If these early ads are any indication, we’re seeing a mix of nostalgia, controversy, and pure chaos. And honestly? We love to see it.

A few standouts so far:

1. Bud Light’s Shane Gillis & Post Malone redemption arc

Bud Light isn’t one to shy away from controversy. And, going off the vibes of the last few years (yikes) and this year’s ad, they’re doubling down on that reputation.

I mean, you gotta play to your strengths, I guess.

Enter comedian Shane Gillis (to call him controversial would be putting it lightly) and our beloved Post Malone, America’s favourite Bud Light drinker.

The duo’s ad is chaotic, self-aware, and very much not an apology tour. Instead, it leans into their bro-y, beer-loving personas with a wink and a nod.

A risk? Sure.

But considering Bud Light is still rebuilding its image, this could either be a masterstroke… or a misstep.

Time will tell. And I’m here for the drama either way!

2. Doja Cat crashes Taco Bell (again)

Doja Cat is back at Taco Bell, and this time she’s… photobombing?

The teaser is quick, chaotic, and capitalises on her signature brand of internet humour.

This isn’t her first rodeo with the fast-food chain. The star first partnered with the brand back in 2022 during a campaign to bring back the fan-favourite Mexican Pizza.

The collab and product helped drive $45 million in sales and an 8% sales lift, while earning Taco Bell a spot on the Time's 100 Most Influential Companies list.

With this teaser, Taco Bell is keeping things mysterious. But one thing’s for sure: Doja’s brand of irreverence pairs perfectly with late-night tacos.

3. Nick Offerman’s Pringles surveillance

In the most Nick Offerman casting possible, the Parks and Rec star is keeping an eye out for Pringles’ #BigGame ad.

The teaser is light on details but heavy on Offerman’s signature deadpan delivery, setting up what could be a hilariously ridiculous reveal.

Pringles has had some solid Super Bowl moments in the past (remember the flavour stacking campaign?). So we’re expecting something equally absurd this year.

Bonus points if Offerman whittles a Pringles can into a functional piece of furniture.

With a few weeks to go, these teasers are just the beginning of the Super Bowl ad circus.

But we're already picking up on a theme here—brands are leaning into personalities with very strong fandoms—whether that’s controversial comedians, internet-breaking musicians, or beloved TV stars.

The question is, which ad will actually land with audiences? And, more importantly, which one will get roasted on X first?

Let’s just say, we’ll be watching.

And if you're a smart marketer (as we know you are!), you will be too.
