So, What’s the Tea?

One thing about being famous is that you don’t stay that way.

Not if you don’t keep people interested in you.

GOD FORBID you become washed up, collecting metaphorical dust in the hall of fame. But there are a number of ways you can prevent said dust...

This week, a few of our faves have shown us how.

First off, J-Lo dropped the trailer for her new documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. This doc follows Lopez as she attempts to independently produce a new album and a film exploring her 20-year journey to self-love. This is the perfect opportunity to follow suit by creating intimate content around a story you've been dying to tell.

Selena Gomez has just released her new single - Love On. This pop queen is notoriously good at creating catchy hooks that quickly become a trend. Jump on the bandwagon by using this song as your next TikTok sound bite, dance trend, or as background music in your content.

Whoopi Goldberg, whether she meant to or not, has become a meme... again. Whoopi became an internet sensation in 2021 after the iconic shutdown of her former cohost with just one word: "Okay." These two syllables contained so much sass that they ripped through the internet like wildfire. And well, Whoopi's making headlines again. This time people are talking about her response to Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. We recommend using this hilarious sound bite in your content or re-enacting the clip as a response to scenarios in the office!

High Risk = High Reward…Sometimes, at Least!

In December, we grew our TikTok from 390k to 720k followers. How? By creating a high-stakes wager ending in Jony and Stan getting matching tattoos.

So how did we do it? And why did it work?

We were able to get our following to jump from 390k to 720k in just a few weeks because of one thing. A very carefully constructed strategy.

The deal, which Jony presented to Stan on TikTok, was that Jony had to double our followers before they went to NY. If she couldn’t do it, she'd have to get a tattoo of Stan's choosing.

Why did Jony go with this strategy?

  • The high stakes were designed to hook people in. Getting any tattoo Stan chose sounded crazy. This made people want to follow along to see what would happen. And they did! The video introducing the deal gained over 4 million views.

  • It fit the storyline our audience knew. Jony and Stan had already created lots of content around the boss vs. employee dynamic. So when Jony asked viewers to help her triumph over Stan, they felt invested in making sure she came out on top.

How did it go?

  • As their New York trip approached, the goal seemed unattainable. So Stan and Jony renegotiated the terms of the agreement. If they met their goal of doubling their followers, Stan would have to get a matching tattoo with Jony. Raising the stakes gave us the final boost to get us over the line.

  • In the end, we reached our goal (without a moment to spare)! Although it came down to the last hour, the insane strategy paid off.

What did we learn?

You need to put out content constantly. Otherwise, people will forget about you. Jony’s initial goal was to create 10 TikToks a day. However, due to client work, she stopped pushing out as much content and our growth slowed. That’s why she had to up the ante as a last-ditch effort to make her goal.

Luckily, this strategy worked and we doubled our follwers just in time. And now Jony and Stan now have matching “Kweschens" tattoos.

Q - Why do you guys always talk about getting attention? Shouldn’t the goal be to get leads? - Camila

Hi Camila!

TAS is built on this idea that most people create their business backwards. They have this thing they want to sell, they create a business around it, and then they look for people who want to pay for it.

The problem with this is it can be really hard to find clients this way. Because you’re assuming you know what they want rather than actually asking them. But if you build an audience first, you never have to guess what they find valuable. They’ll tell you what they want from you. So when you go to sell them that thing, you’ve already got people who are waiting to pay you for it.

Build attention first and the leads will take care of themselves.
